Tracks Human Resource Conference Tweets with New Event Twitter Hashtag Feature

CAPITOLA, Calif. /May 17, 2011 — Sorting through the noise of Twitter can be overwhelming, but has found a way to cut through the clutter with a dynamic new feature called “Event Twitter Hashtags.”

The feature is available to customers of the marketing software and services firm and is located in HRmarketer’s vast database of industry conference and event profiles. When users click the field, a pop-up window opens to display a current list of all Tweets with the event’s hashtag.

Once an event ends, HRmarketer archives all tweets with the respective hashtag beginning with the start date of the event and ending a few days past its close. Tweets are then made available in the event’s profile so users will be able to view them in future years.

Twitter users identify tweets with specific hashtags to make them easy to locate by topic—such as #wawtr11, #SHRM11 and many more. In the HR space, professionals search for tweets by hashtags to find topics of interest to them and their business. More and more conferences are using them for their events so that Twitter users can follow along and join in Twitter “discussions” about the conference.

The tracking service is especially valuable because Twitter removes the ability to search for event hashtags after a period of time—so people are unable to easily locate past Tweets for an event. The service will not archive tweets prior to an event because they tend to be promotional. Tweets during and after the event are far more useful because attendees are describing speakers, sessions, exhibitors, the venue itself and more.
